CommenSense vs Manychat: which should you use for Instagram?

We make CommenSense, so read this knowing that. We've tried to be fair: every claim about Manychat links to Manychat's own documentation, and we say where Manychat is the better choice.

What's the main difference?

Manychat is a chat-marketing platform for many channels. On Instagram it starts conversations from comments, story replies, DMs, story mentions, Live comments, ads and more, and you build what happens next in its Flow Builder.

CommenSense is built for Instagram comments. It does comment-to-DM and story replies, and it also moderates your comments: it reads each new comment and can hide spam and abuse automatically, in 50+ languages. It also has bulk hide and delete, Ask AI questions about a post's comments, and posting and scheduling to Instagram.

How do the prices compare?

Manychat prices in US dollars by Active Contacts: the number of people who interact with your automations in a billing month (Manychat: Active Contacts). CommenSense prices in rupees by Instagram accounts and comment scans, with no limit on DMs or contacts.

ManychatCommenSense
Free$0: 25 Active Contacts a month, up to 4 live automations, "Powered by Manychat" on the first message₹0: 1 Instagram account, unlimited automations and DMs, 100 comment scans a month, a "Sent using commensense.in" line on DMs
Entry planEssential: $17 a month ($14 a month yearly), 250 Active Contacts, then $0.10 per extra contactBasic: ₹499 a month, 1 account, 1,000 comment scans, no branding
Mid planPro: $39 a month ($29 yearly), 2,500 Active ContactsPro: ₹999 a month, 2 accounts, 5,000 comment scans, Ask AI
Higher plansBusiness: $99 a month ($69 yearly), 7,500 Active Contacts. Advanced: $199 a month ($139 yearly), 25,000Business: ₹2,999 a month, 3 accounts, 25,000 comment scans

Manychat prices are from its plan pages: Free, Essential, Pro, Business and Advanced. Manychat notes that plan availability may vary by region. CommenSense's prices are on our pricing page; paying quarterly saves 10% and yearly 20%.

An example. Say 1,000 different people comment your keyword in a month. On Manychat that's 1,000 Active Contacts: beyond Free's 25, Essential would be $17 plus $75 of overage (750 × $0.10), and Pro's 2,500 contacts cover it for $39. On CommenSense the number of people doesn't change the price: Free covers it with our branding line on the DM, and Basic at ₹499 covers it without.

Manychat's Instagram triggers are listed in its help centre, one article per trigger, for example the comments trigger and the story reply trigger. Follower checks and lead capture are listed as Essential features on its Essential plan page. When we say "not in its help centre", we mean that none of Manychat's 200 English help articles describes it on 12 October 2026.

Where Manychat is the better choice

  • You sell on more than Instagram. WhatsApp, TikTok, Messenger, SMS and email in one tool is something CommenSense doesn't do at all.
  • You need complex flows. Branching on answers, conditions, tags and many message steps belong in a flow builder. CommenSense keeps to a fixed set of steps before one DM.
  • You want AI to hold the conversation. Manychat's AI can answer people in DMs. CommenSense's AI reads comments; it doesn't chat for you.
  • A team answers DMs live. Manychat's Inbox has seats for that; CommenSense has no inbox.
  • You need integrations. Manychat connects to email tools, CRMs and its own API.

Where CommenSense is the better choice

  • Your comments need looking after, not just answering. Automatic hiding of spam and abuse, bulk hide and delete, and restricting people are the other half of CommenSense, and they work alongside your DM automations.
  • You don't want your bill to grow with your audience. A post that goes viral doesn't cost more on CommenSense; on Manychat, more people means more Active Contacts.
  • You want the follow check and story replies free. Both are on CommenSense's Free plan.
  • You pay in rupees. Prices are in ₹, with UPI.
  • You want a simple setup. One page, in the order the commenter experiences it. See how a CommenSense automation is set up.

Can I use both?

Not on the same comments. If two tools both answer the same comment, Instagram allows only one private reply per comment, so one of them will fail (Meta: Private replies). You could use CommenSense only for comment moderation and Manychat for DMs, as long as you don't set up CommenSense automations on the same posts.
